The rffada, CARDD. FARE and NOFASD petitioned the Senate to have FASD acknowledged as a disability by the Federal Government. It looks like our call to action and many others has yielded results. Thanks to all who signed the petition and thanks to other organisations and individuals who campaigned on behalf of the many families living with FASD for this action to be taken by the govenrment. Patrick McGee from the Aboriginal Disability Justice Campaign has kept FASD in the news and Dr Jan Hammill as usual has been at the pointy end of this cause. We hope that the many people currently in prison without being convicted will have a more appropriate place in which to live.
The Federal Government plans to make foetal alcohol spectrum disorder a registered disability, which will enable potentially thousands of children to get support and treatment they cannot get.
