Win 7 pro usb install

The beginning of the install. When running a Win XP install, there was always an option to "Press F6 to load driver" during the first part of the install. I didn't see anything like this with Win 7 install. What is this "Load Driver Method" which you both recommended? New 08 Aug 2018 #1 Audio driver confusion. I have used Cool Edit Pro on Windows 10 before, and on 7 and XP before that. It needs Stereo Mix to be installed. It is installed on this PC, but Cool Edit doesn't see it for some reason.Looking through Device Manager I see information which confuses me. Audio inputs and outputs says Sound Max, and also says no drivers are necessary or installed ? !Sound, video and game controllers also says Sound Max and gives details of the driver.A screenshot of the various windows should explain my confusion better. Why doesn't Cool Edit see Stereo Mix? Would replacing the present driver/s with Realtek ones, which I'm sure I have used before, help? New 08 Aug 2018 #2 HP does not show any Win 10 drivers for this model. Win 7 is latest and in most cases the Win 7 sound drivers are not compatible with Win 10. Thus if the Soundmax drivers are installed, from wherever, they may still either be not compatible with the HP Soundmax chip and/or Win 10. Good chance you will need to use a USB connected sound device that is Win 10 compatible and have Stereo Mix (and disable the Soundmax or whatever it is in the BIOS). If you uninstall whatever you have now and then reboot and if Windows installs the generic, basic function, High Definition Audio drivers that is probably the best you can do. However the High Definition Audio drivers do not have Stereo Mix. If Windows does not install the High Definition Audio driver that says the sound hardware is not Win 10 compatible.I've seen this specific problem many times on the Dell forum with older Dell's that are not supported by Dell for Win 8/8.1/10.
