A spring snow storm has left behind a mess for road crews who have to plow the streets and citizens who have to shovel driveways.The snow has ended, but the winter-like weather remains. The Green Bay area could see record-low temperatures overnight.As expected, most areas north of Highway 10 saw 6-12 inches of snow through Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation lists major highways in the area as having slippery stretches.The Shawano County Sheriff's Office said its deputies responded to 48 crashes in a 24-hour period.The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office tweeted Wednesday morning that cars in ditches were a "common theme."Schools across the area announced two-hour delays. Some closed for the day. We have updated travel conditions on our Timesaver Traffic tool. Don't put away those boots and winter coats just yet. Temperatures are expected to plummet overnight. Today’s FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY is coming to an end... The snow is wrapping up this afternoon. It will stay cloudy, but road conditions will be improving. Look for partly cloudy skies as we head towards this evening.Behind this round of snow, tomorrow’s weather turns colder. We’ll go from highs near the freezing mark today, to highs only in the teens to about 20 degrees tomorrow. A brisk north breeze will push early Tuesday’s wind chills down to near, or even below zero. That wind may also create a few lake flakes across the Northwoods, but otherwise, tomorrow’s looks partly sunny.There’s another weathermaker coming through the area during the midweek. Look for snow, followed by icy rain as subfreezing temperatures rise Wednesday night and into early Thursday morning. While it’s early to be certain, a couple inches of snow, plus a glaze of ice is possible. This time is now another FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY, as hazardous travel develops across our area.Otherwise, our temperatures look seasonably cold this week. That bodes well for this weekend’s start to the sturgeon spearing season. From now until Wednesday, we have an extended FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY for dangerous wind chills thanks to Arctic air. Subzero morning lows are expected with morning wind chills ranging from -20 to -40 during the next few days. Frostbite can occur in 10 minutes or less. Cover exposed skin, limit your exposure to the harsh temperatures, and be sure to bring in your pets.Sunshine will be a nice treat and we should have a lot of it through Tuesday. Highs in the single digits above and below zero are on track through Tuesday as well.Warmer 20s return Wednesday... and the end of the week and next weekend will be MUCH more tolerable. As a matter of fact, highs around freezing may occur next Saturday.Other than some light snow in the region towards the end of this week, we aren’t tracking any major weather systems.
