MAPS™ SIP emulates User Agents, Proxy, Redirect, Registrar, and Registrant servers. This tool can place and answer calls, replicating the behavior of an actual VoIP phone. All call parameters are customizable, including calling number, called number, duration, audio payload and more.” MAPS™ SIP seamlessly integrates with the MAPS™ RTP HD hardware appliance to generate tens of thousands of simultaneous calls through specialized network interface cards. This makes it ideal for load testing network infrastructure. It reports metrics such as successful calls, failed calls, dropped calls, mean opinion score and packet loss, testing the robustness and reliability of the network under heavy traffic conditions. MAPS™ SIP can emulate any interface within a VoIP network, with a single instance capable of functioning as multiple SIP entities simultaneously. It generates various SIP messages, reducing the need for additional testing equipment, and supports VoIP implementations in compliance with ED-137C of the EUROCAE standard, enabling the emulation of Air Traffic Control Communications networks. The SIP testing solution evaluates Gateway and ATA products, covering key areas such as call connectivity, call signaling, traffic generation, voice quality testing and codec functionality. It transmits and detects various RTP traffic types, including digits, voice files, pass-through fax, T.38 fax, single tones, and dual tones, and can generate up to 2,000 simultaneous RTP media calls at a rate of 250 calls per second. The software can handle 70,000 concurrent calls at 750 calls per second for SIP signaling-only scenarios and features a Command Line Interface, allowing users to control all functionalities through Python and Java APIs. It offers automated fax call emulation and analysis for T.30 and T.38 fax sessions, enabling efficient testing and analysis of fax transmissions over IP networks. Additionally, it integrates with the Message Session Relay Protocol (MSRP) to facilitate instant messaging over SIP sessions in NG9-1-1 networks, supporting various NG9-1-1 call types, including instant messaging (IM)-only, audio and IM, and video and IM calls across multiple user agents. MAPS™ SIP also performs Interactive Voice Response (IVR) testing, recognizing and responding to voice prompts using DTMF digits or voice for automated IVR traversal.

Tool to help troubleshoot VoIP rollouts, VoIP & Network Quality Manager only works for Cisco-based systems (but that shouldn’t really be a problem, because who doesn’t use Cisco devices in this space—am I right?).9. NetScanToolsNetScanTools comes in Basic, LE, and Pro packages, each of which offers network monitoring tools. The NetScanTools Basic edition is another freeware option for home users and those managing smaller networks, giving you several powerful networking tools in a single bundle. The LE package is designed specifically for those working in law enforcement and was created with input from actual law enforcement professionals—resulting in a program oriented around “cases.” All queries are automatically documented, time-stamped, and logged, and the reports generated by the application are unfussy, direct, and results-driven.NetScanTools Pro brings more than 40 networking tools—including configuration functions, security testing services, tools for data gathering, and network and service diagnostics—into one central interface. NetScanTools collects a lot of data automatically and is specifically designed to save you time. A great deal of information can be gleaned from examining DNS entries, scanning hosts, and doing Whois lookups, but running those tasks individually is time-consuming. NetScanTools creates automated reports to provide a range of detailed information, including not only Whois records and DNS details, but also blacklists, traceroutes, port scans, and more. Testing and packet tools allow you to illuminate potential problem areas on the network, as well. While not as expansive or comprehensive as some of the other applications listed here, NetScanTools is a cost-effective and affordable bundle of network management tools. However, it’s only available for users running Windows systems.10. Flow Tool BundleDesigned for use with NetFlow, this free network testing toolkit includes three handy, easy-to-install network traffic analysis tools to give you the capacity to rapidly distribute, test, and configure flow traffic. SolarWinds combined two of its popular NetFlow free tools and added a new, third freebie not available outside this bundle to round out many of the features needed to gain important NetFlow performance insights. The three applications included in the SolarWinds Flow Tool Bundle are:NetFlow Generator – Simulate extra traffic on your network to see

Network conditions have a huge impact on VoIP call quality. Here’s a handy guide to finding and fixing the root cause. Voice-over-IP is one of the most network-sensitive things you can do, and it doesn’t take much for a crappy connection to cause delays, disconnects, and indecipherable voice or video. When your business hinges upon exceptional call quality, even small dips in performance are unacceptable. So, to get things singing again, we’ve put together a handy guide to help you troubleshoot your VoIP issues. This guide will help you identify if your network is to blame for your call concerns. We’ll get you set up with the right tools, test every caller’s connection, spot the potential source of the problem, and take steps to get it fixed. Understanding the symptoms As we mentioned, because of how bandwidth-dependent and latency-sensitive VoIP tends to be, the quality of your network is often tied to the quality of your voice calls. However, a few VoIP issues are not typically caused by network problems (although, a poorly-performing network doesn’t help). These can include: Echoes when you speak. Network issues can make the effect worse, but echoes are often caused by electrical interference or poorly-calibrated app settings Inability to connect to some users, but not others. This can be caused by firewall permissions or other settings that sit outside your network quality On the flip side, if you’re experiencing any of these issues, your network is likely the cause: Garbled words (“blips” and clicks mixed in with the voice) Intermittent drops in sound Large gaps where someone is talking, but no one else can hear it High distortion Long delays between the time someone talks and everyone hears them Frequent “talking over” each other If you suspect the network is to blame, you can start taking steps to troubleshoot the problem. That means: Setting up a test tool to evaluate your network and the networks of the other callers Conducting the test itself and recording the results Interpreting the data you collect Taking action to fix the issue So let’s get started! Step 1: Download a network test tool To start troubleshooting your network, you’ll want to get a better look at what the VoIP data is actually doing. To do that, you’re going to need a tool to test the same network route. VoIP calls are dependent on every participant’s network, not just yours. While you could have every caller run a number of different traceroute tools and send you the results, there’s a better way to test every caller’s network at the same time. We recommend using PingPlotter Cloud for testing everyone’s network. Cloud will let you test each caller’s connection in tandem
