Utorrent proxy

Recommended Posts I posted in the pia forums but am getting no responses, so I hoped someone here might know. So I'm completely new to this vpn thing. I got Private Internet Access (pia) a month ago after getting a notice from my isp regarding copyright violations. I only need to use it for torrents. My download speed in utorrent without pia connected is 800kb-1mb. When I connect to pia no matter what server I connect to the highest speed I've got in utorrent is 300kb, but mostly it stays under 100kb. It doesn't seem to matter whether I use the socks5 proxy or not. However, if I do not connect to pia, but open utorrent and tell it to use the socks 5 proxy with the pia generated username and password, my download speeds are back to 800kb-1mb. Since I don't really understand how all this works, I'm wondering if it is safe to use utorrent like that, or if my isp or the copyright police can still see everything being downloaded in utorrent? As long as you are on VPN your all data is secured and transfer wihtin an encrypted tunnel. If PIA is not encrypting your data then your ISP and concerned can detect what data is being transfered within a tunnel. I use Ivacy VPN. I had to take help from their support to get it configured on my DD WRT router, but after that it worked just fine. And I must say for such a low price ($1.83/mo), Ivacy is the best VPN option. We can only help on utorrent software issues not help with VPN or Poxy setting that is something you must do yourself.
