The incredible opportunity to explore and positively impact their community. However, the most universal tradition happens early in your UCLA experience at the Inverted Fountain. During orientation, freshmen get “Bruintized” by dipping their hands in the fountain, with the caveat that they can’t touch the water until they graduate, or they won’t complete their schooling on time. Towards the end of spring quarter, seniors can be seen completing their graduation photoshoots by wading into the fountain with their sashes on, champagne in hand.DiningNiche has rated UCLA dorm food Number One year after year. The school has 8 dining halls and takeout locations full of scrumptious meals that span a wide range of cultures and cater to a multitude of diets. One of the most notable dining halls is Rendezvous, which is split into an East and a West wing. The East side serves pan-Asian food such as Pad Thai, boba, and green tea ice cream, while the West side has a Chipotle-style build-your-own burrito bar along with a number of other Latin American specialties. It would be remiss to discuss UCLA dining without mentioning its newest dining hall, Bruin Plate or BPlate. BPlate dining hall is an all-you-can-eat smorgasbord of clean, healthy eating. With herbs grown on its roof and a variety of locally sourced produce, the eatery places an emphasis on eco-conscious eating as well. With uncommon inclusions like tempeh, yuca, and amaranth, students may find themselves trying and enjoying new ingredients weekly.Financial AidUCLA offers the Cal Grant to in-state students, covering tuition and fees and/or providing a living allowance for students who meet the financial requirements and have a 2.0-3.0 minimum GPA. Students do not have to pay this money back and must fill out the FAFSA or California Dream Act Application to be considered. LocationA large part of UCLA’s appeal comes from its prime location in Los Angeles, California. Situated in Westwood, an upscale neighborhood close to Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive, UCLA typically sees sunny and clear skies, allowing students to frequent the neighboring hiking trails and beaches for a good portion of the year. What Are Your Chances of Acceptance at UCLA?No two students’ chances of admission are entirely the same; and don’t let UCLA’s status as a public university deceive you– the bar for that coveted acceptance letter is incredibly high. With competitive admissions rates comparable to those of the Ivies, your personal chances of acceptance might differ from the standard percentage you’d find on the school’s website. Your application may be disqualified almost immediately if your statistics don’t pass the threshold the school is looking for. Alternatively, if your profile is well-rounded in that you have strong extracurriculars in addition to stellar grades and test. The Cougars now have a chance to retake the lead after Kansas State fumbled the exchange on a field goal attempt, handing Houston the ball on its own 45-yard line. Houston's defense continues to play well. The Cougars have limited an excellent Kansas State rushing attack, holding the Wildcats to just 2.6 yards per carry while limiting explosive plays. How the CFP Selection process worksOn Nov. 5, the College Football Playoff Committee will convene and release its first rankings of the 2024 season (7 p.m. ET, ESPN). Back in September, I got a close look inside the process in the same conference room that flashes on television every single week. Each year, the College Football Playoff invites media members to go through a mock selection committee exercise at the Gaylord Texan, the very same hotel and room where the decisions will be made starting next week. I went for the first time in 2022, but things have changed quite a bit since then. College Football Playoff selection process: How the committee will choose the first 12-team field Shehan Jeyarajah UCLA up big against Nebraska Early 3Q: UCLA 27, Nebraska 7 Nebraska has a huge hole to dig itself out of if it wants to become bowl eligible for the first time since 2016. The Huskers are now down by 20 against 2-5 UCLA, a team that didn't win its first Big Ten game until Oct. 19. Though UCLA is firing on all cylinders, Nebraska has also done plenty to hurt itself. Freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola threw a piack-6 on Nebraska's first offensive play of the second half, allowing UCLA to open a 20-7 lead. Conversely, UCLA quarterback Ethan Garbers is putting together one of the best games of his career. He's completed 16 of his 20 pass attempts thus far for 197 yards and two touchdowns, including a 48-yard scoring strike to wide receiver Kwazi Gilmer. UCF dominating Arizona Early 3Q: UCF 42, Arizona 6 In one of Saturday's more surprising results thus far, UCF is absolutely taking it to Arizona. The Knights opened up a 28-0 lead and have not looked back, keeping their foot on the gas to score on both their final drive in the first half and the first drive of the second half. New starting quarterback Dylan Rizk has had an excellent game thus far. He's completed 15 passes for 209 yards and one touchdown.

Seems to be a trend at this point. There are some things that everyone can do to get better — like Allar being more on the money with his throws early on — but there isn’t always one culprit. It’s an oversimplification to say the Nittany Lions just need to be better early in games but … the Nittany Lions just need to be better early in games.Penn State football coach James Franklin yells to the refs during the game against UCLA on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024 at Beaver Stadium.UglyUCLA: UCLA has been bad to start the season, but the Bruins’ play has been made even worse by some extenuating circumstances. This week, for instance, that was starting a game at 9 a.m. body clock time after flying in from the west coast one day ahead of the noon ET kick. This team is not ready to compete in the Big Ten — or any conference really — after former head coach Chip Kelly left to be the offensive coordinator at Ohio State (yikes). That was clear as day even when the score was knotted up at zero to end the first quarter. I feel for head coach DeShaun Foster, who is in an impossible situation, but I don’t know if UCLA is going to win another game this season.Penn State football coach James Franklin to UCLA coach DeShaun Foster before the game on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024 at Beaver Stadium.

Loomed large. But then, the Wildcats began collecting stops. Berry collected a steal and dunk in the closing minutes, starting a ferocious 11-0 run in 100 seconds that included several steals and missed UCLA free throws to cut the lead to 68-65 and showed the grit of Chris Collins’ squad. Berry was responsible for seven of the points. Windham was also key in the run, tallying a block and a steal as the rover on the press. With 33.4 seconds on the clock, Northwestern cought Bilodeau in a trap, where he shuffled his feet and traveled, giving the Wildcats the ball with 26.2 seconds remaining. Berry converted a quick layup, extending the Northwestern scoring streak to 13-0. The Wildcats fouled to send Clark to the line. With the crowd at its loudest, Clark missed one of his shots. With the Bruins only up two, Mick Cronin called a timeout with 21.7 ticks on the clock.Martinelli drove to the lane but didn’t get a foul through heavy contact, giving UCLA the ball with 8.4 seconds remaining. Windham was forced to foul, which the refs (quite questionably) ruled to be a Flagrant 1, giving UCLA a four-point lead and the ball in a critical turn of events. Another trip to the line extended the lead to six. Martinelli was fouled with a tenth of a second left, but his free throws only altered the final score. UCLA walked off the court with a 73-69 win as the crowd rained down a chorus of boos on the referees.Northwestern closes out the season on the road in College Park where the ‘Cats will play Maryland in the regular season finale. Despite the loss, the Wildcats are still well-positioned to make the Big Ten Tournament. But with Monday’s result, Northwestern’s at-large chances are almost certainly quashed, meaning Northwestern’s only true chance at a March Madness three-peat is a Cinderella run in the Big Ten Tournament.

On Senior Night, Northwestern celebrated a group that represents one of the winningest classes in program history. Unfortunately, they couldn’t snag one last home win on Monday — but they damn near stole one with a ferocious 13-point comeback in the final two minutes.Northwestern (16-14, 7-12 B1G) ultimately came up short against UCLA (21-9, 12-7 B1G), losing 73-69 and putting an end to Northwestern’s three-game win streak. Yet, the fact that Northwestern even made the end of the game stressful for the Bruins is a celebratory feat considering UCLA led 68-54 with 2:30 remaining in the game. For reference, take a look below at that HUGE dip from the verge of 100 at the very end of ESPN’s win probability chart. Both teams shot 47% from the field, but the difference was UCLA’s 38-24 rebounding advantage (including 13-4 on the offensive glass). Ty Berry led the way on his senior night with 22 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Martinelli was close behind, keeping up his Big Ten-best averages with a 20-point, six-rebound performance. Other noteworthy stats include Jordan Clayton’s six rebounds and seven assists and 10 points from K.J. Windham. For UCLA, Tyler Bilodeau led the Bruins with 19 points, but UCLA’s backup big, Aday Mara, stole the show with an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double off the bench as the 7-foot-3 big man did his best Zach Edey impression. Eric Dailey Jr. added 12 points, including a 4-for-4 mark from the charity stripe. From the get-go, UCLA was putting the clamps on Northwestern, utilizing the full-court press and going over every screen to stifle Northwestern’s ball-handlers. The Bruins jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead before Martinelli got the ‘Cats on the board. Tyler Bilodeau struggled early for UCLA, missing three shots from deep in the opening minutes, which allowed Northwestern to close the gap. A timely Ty Berry three made the score 9-8 Bruins.Bilodeau finally sank a mid-range jumper to break his shooting slump, but Justin Mullins responded with a three off a Martinelli offensive rebound to tie the game at 11. By the game’s first timeout, it was evident that the Welsh-Ryan crowd would be a sixth man on the floor for the Wildcats. The home crowd showed up in full force for the finale and was the loudest (and fullest) it had been in months.Martinelli gave NU its first lead of the game with his patented floater, but Lazar Stefanovic responded right away with a jumper, which was quickly followed by a Bilodeau three to retake the lead for the visitors. On the ensuing possession, Martinelli was fouled on a step-back three, giving him three shots at the line. Unfortunately for the Wildcats, he was only able to. Conversely, UCLA quarterback Ethan Garbers is putting together one of the best games of his career. He's completed 16 of his 20 pass attempts thus far for 197 yards and two touchdowns, including a 48-yard scoring strike to wide receiver Kwazi Gilmer.
