2025-04-14Sign in to your ScreenRant account Warning: spoilers ahead for Sonic the Hedgehog - Imposter Syndrome #1! IDW's Sonic the Hedgehog will soon face-off against a robotic version of himself called Surge the Tenrec created by Dr. Eggman's former fanboy and lackey Dr. Starline, who programmed the Sonic impostor to fix his ex-hero's repeated failures with Metal Sonic. Frustrated by Eggman's many negative qualities, Dr. Starline went behind his back to build a lifelike robot that would exhibit more than just Sonic's raw power, unlike all of Eggman's Metal Sonics. Even though the latest rendition of the metallic hedgehog almost beat the Blue Blur in IDW's first issues - and even though it unlocked a new powerful transformation known as Neo Metal Sonic - it still ultimately failed. What all of these robots have in common is there's no personality. Starline focused on this shared trait when building Surge the Tenrec, programming her to emulate the Blue Blur's attitude and style in hopes this would help not only beat but replace Sonic. Dr. Starline also constructed another robot based on Tails to make up for many of Sonic's shortcomings that Surge undoubtedly shares - Kitsunami the Fennec. Both creations - which possess electrical and hydro-based powers - just debuted in IDW's tie-in series Sonic the Hedgehog - Imposter Syndrome #1 by writer Ian Flynn and artist Thomas Rothlisberger. Dr. Starline first began doubting Eggman's abilities to defeat Sonic during the "Metal Virus" saga. He noticed that Eggman sabotaged himself every time he faced off against the Blue Blur, becoming more obsessed with theatrics and showmanship at the expense of his genius intellect. Dr. Starline repeatedly tried to convince his hero of these flaws, but all of his attempts fell on deaf ears, forcing him to help Eggman from the shadows in ways he would never agree to. It was during the Bad Guys miniseries that Starline eventually decided to actively sabotage Eggman and achieve what he couldn't with Surge and Kitsunami, who are based on special coding Starline extracted from Belle the Tinkerer, created by Eggman's good alter ego Mr. Tinker. Starline rejecting the man he was once so enthralled with is an interesting development that both explains why Eggman perpetually loses against Sonic and creates new threats without changing what works about Eggman. The villain is over-theatrical and possesses a hatred for organic life that he's demonstrated through the many animals he roboticized in Archie Comics and infected with the Metal Virus in IDW. Creating lifelike robots would go against his character, and Eggman has also repeatedly articulated his distaste for Sonic's attitude, so he would never give those same traits to Metal Sonic. A new villain like Starline
2025-04-08Friends.Kit becomes extremely aggressive when he believes someone is preventing him from being helpful, with his anxiety and trauma revealing itself.History[]Little is known about Kit's history pre kidnapping from Dr. Starline. During his time as Starline's test subject he and Surge were cybernetically modified using the power cores from Sonic Heroes, bio data of Sonic, Tails and Shadow, an altered Metal Virus strain to improve his overall durability and had his memories and personality altered via study of Dr. Eggman's wooden badnik creation, Belle, during his time as Mr. Tinker. He was placed under repeated hypnosis sessions by Starline, implanting fake memories and a constant reminder than he only lives to serve Surge. Starline also performed rigorous testing and obstacle courses for Surge and Kit, which would inevitably end with the two becoming fed up at which point Starline would wipe their memories and start again, which led to the two's psyches becoming more and more fragmented.Later Surge and Kit begin to question why they even want to destroy Sonic or help Surge respectively, with neither knowing exactly why, just that they have a desire to do so. Starline, sensing problems puts them back under hypnosis.Trivia[]Kitsunami, like Surge and Dr. Starline is based off a graphical glitch. In Kit's case he is based off a glitch that would turn Tails into a blue Knuckles under the right conditions in Sonic 3 & Knuckles. The powers of Surge and Kit being Sonic and Tails' reversed phobias (Sonic is afraid of water(Kit's ability), Tails is afraid of lightning (Surge's ability)) was an unintentional design addition.Kit is the second Sonic character to be shown able to manipulate liquid, after Chaos.Gallery[]Kit lagging behind Surge during the testsStarline erasing Kit and Surge's memories
2025-04-20An array of custom depth-sensing cameras. Logitech and Steelcase's Project Ghost just uses a selection of off-the-shelf webcam parts and a custom-made piece of office furniture. The Project Ghost furniture is a comfy seat, a walled-off area where the projector display is housed, and some privacy screens. It feels cozy. Scott Stein/CNETProject Starline and Project Ghost are both aiming for lifesize, lifelike chats between people, but Starline's chat looks 3D, holographic, as if they're sitting right across from me. Ghost's video chat looks like someone is inside the booth I'm facing, in 2D. Starline felt more like science fiction, but Ghost's off-the-shelf tech build is trying to make something similar happen faster for more businesses.I first wrote about Project Ghost earlier this year; The initiative, which is trying to figure out how physical offices can better adapt to a world where workers are frequently virtual or hybrid, is trying to find an affordable (for offices) way to build out a system that's better than a regular webcam and monitor and can maybe substitute better for live in-person meetings.Read more: Best WebcamsI was skeptical, but Google's Project Starline already convinced me of how eerily real these types of life-size chats can feel. What surprised me about Project Ghost is how some of what works with Starline can happen, even without the 3D effect. Just having a lifesize video feed that makes actual eye contact works really well, too. A look at how the display projects: the screen is on the bottom,

They come in three different colors representing the power they carry: yellow for flight, red for power (strength) and blue for speed. The Cores feature a magnetic field, meaning that the Badniks stationed near them had to be EM proof. A red power core imbuing Zavok with its power. The Tricore's energy is also able to be used for an indefinite amount of time.Trivia[]The Power Cores, as well as the power inside them, by the Power Cores used in Sonic Heroes, where they are able to upgrade characters.were inspired by the Sonic Heroes logo, where the playable teams included power (strength), speed, and flight. The containers storing the power cores resemble gumball machines
