Or beatmatch to save their lives anyhow.now of course im generalizing and im not accusing or pointing at anyone. but i think if you look closely, both sides of the spectrum are looking at each other. serato users want more featuers, which will untimately bring bugs and instability. vdj users want stability which is more difficult to maintain when more features are getting added. fyi, i agree with the note that there seems to be too much priority in silly features. but then looking at the money-making scheme, there are alot more idiot-noobs that want to press 1 button and then call themselves a dj than there are pros whove been around the block for a decade or more. look where the money is when you dont have a huge product range to support it. maybe rane looses money. microsuck lost 150USD for each xbox they sold. the point was to generate a software gaming market on their platform. they were actually hugely successful at it for newcomers to the market. it could very well be that rane doesnt win large profit margins on the serato platform, but gain a type of user ridership. also note they are exclusively integrating with their mixers now which are quite popular and good quality. buy a mixer, buy serato... the mixer sale might very well support a failing serato business. beyond all the hype, you will never know this unless you work for rane in that very same business unit.its all conjecture, but these are all considerations that need to be taken into the argument. atomix is a small company with no other products than what you see. its clear if you use their support that they dont spend alot of money on it and rely on users like us to nurture a good forum. this is a very rare positive that comes only when you have a great product that users will spend time and effort to support like this. those that come here a bitch without purpose or regard are a fact of life but they also wont be djs in 6 months when they realize they suck anyhow......only my opinion Posted Mon 18 Feb 08 @ 9:06 am Paz75PRO InfinityMember since 2006 sidenote and disclaimer. noobs are good, it bolsters a trade. if you are new, never be ashamed of asking lots of questions. thats how you learn... but be. Of those DJs who is hell-bent on replicating the “club gear experience” at home, then you may decide to go for expensive club-grade CDJ / media players and a mixer, and nowadays the best of these set-ups can be used with DJ software such as Traktor. The Traktor Kontrol S4 is a cheaper entry point to digital DJing and for the complete beginner, a controller such as this is probably still the safest bet.If you do decide to go down this route, the Traktor Kontrol Z2 could be a good mixer to choose instead of one of the mixers commonly seen in clubs, because it integrates really nicely with Traktor and the additional controllers available for the software.Just bear in mind you’re not likely to see many clubs installing it (I’ll bet they’ll continue to go for Pioneer or Allen & Heath mixers, as they always have done). At a basic level, though, mixers are mixers – if you can use this one, you can use any.But here’s what I see to be the biggest potential group of users: people who already own some old-style DJ gear. Maybe you have a couple of turntables and an analogue mixer, or two old CDJs and the same.By replacing your mixer with a Traktor Kontrol Z2, you can continue to DJ exactly as before, but now the whole world of Traktor is only a USB cable into your laptop away. You can mix and match seamlessly from one to the other, and due to the fact that you’ve only changed your mixer, get into DJing with Traktor in a very natural way.For the price, this is actually a really good way to “go digital”, because firstly, you’re not ditching your existing equipment, and secondly, a full scratch system with a decent hardware mixer plus pro DJ software for the price Native Instruments is asking for the Kontrol Z2 is actually pretty good value (as I say, just look at the Serato prices if you don’t believe me here). So overall, it’s a great-sounding analogue mixer, that brings just the right amount of Traktor’s headline features. 2025-04-15What is DVS?DVS is a playback method used to control the software via an external input from a CDJ/Media player/Turntable. It utilises the Serato control tone in real time to dictate to the software the playback position of the file that is loaded to the virtual deck. Control Disc/USB stickYou can download the tone control disc/USB stick file at any time. This can be found, along with instructions on how to burn a disc/add the file to a USB stick here. How do I set up DVS?ActivationConnect your device to Serato DJ and ensure the DVS expansion is activated and enabledActivate the DVS expansion as per this guide, then navigate to the Serato DJ setup menu, select the expansion packs tab and ensure that DVS (CD/Vinyl control) is enabled in this menu. For all other devices, read below for more.Interface (SL 2, SL3, SL4, DS1, FLUX) users:Whilst turntables output a phono-level signal, CDJs & Media Players output a line-level signal, which is considerably louder. If you don't configure Serato DJ to accept the louder line-level signal you will encounter all sorts of problems, so make sure you complete this important step:Connect the outputs of your CDJ/Media players to the inputs of your SL box as per normal.Flick the dip switches on the SL box to down (or up on the Denon DS1) for a line level signal. Finally, connect the outputs of the SL box to your Line or CD inputs of your mixer as per normal.Mixer/Controller users:Connect the outputs of your CDJ/Media players directly to CD/line input for your hardware. For the left deck use channel 1 or 2, and the right deck channel 3 or 4.If you have the option, (not all hardware
