I require technical support from Dropbox.I have three files in my Dropbox that I initially uploaded in August 2021. In July 2022, I overwrote them by uploading new files with the same names. I realized a few weeks later, and tried to restore the initial version of the files from Version history. The green success message saying that the restore was successful kept showing up, but the file never actually got restored. After restoring, the Version history page looks the same (showing that the file is on the latest version). And every time I restore and then download the file, it downloads the new file. I even tried to go into the Version history and download the old version directly, instead of restoring and then downloading. It downloads me a a small file with the correct name, but it is a plain text file (not the zip file I had uploaded). If I open up this text file, it's a 500 error in HTML. It's the Dropbox 500 page that you see when something's wrong. So there was definitely something wrong during the file restore process. If I can't download the old version, I imagine the backend also had some trouble restoring the file, but I'm surprised that a file restore can fail and show the green success message.I tried logging out and back in, using a different browser, using a different device, everything in the book. Anyway, I'm on the free plan and a few weeks beyond the 30-day threshold, so I can no longer try and restore the files from Version history (not that it worked when I did it). Since there's no way to file a ticket or anything with proper support, I hope someone can see this and is able to escalate my request so I can

Because of an error or a change in project direction. Fortunately, restoring a previous version is quick and easy. Find the version you want to restore in the version history. Click Restore this version at the top of the screen. After you confirm, your Google Sheet will revert to the selected version. It's like hitting the undo button on a much larger scale. Keep in mind that restoring a version doesn't delete your current version; it simply adds another version to the history. This means you can always go back to the version you just left if you change your mind. It's a safe way to make corrections without the fear of losing any data permanently.Another handy feature is the ability to name versions. This can be particularly useful when you're working with multiple versions over time. By naming them, you can easily identify which version corresponds to a particular milestone or change. In the version history panel, click on the three dots next to a version. Select Name this version. Enter a descriptive name and hit Save.Names like "Initial Draft," "Budget Approved," or "Final Edits" can make it easier to recognize what each version represents. It's a small step that can save you a lot of time when you're searching for a specific point in your project's history. While it's hard to say for sure, naming versions could also help you keep your team on the same page, literally and figuratively. One of the strengths of Google Sheets is its collaborative capabilities. Version history plays a crucial role in this aspect, making teamwork more transparent and manageable. With version history, you can: Track contributions from each team member. Resolve disputes over changes by reviewing who made what modifications. Provide feedback on specific versions without overwriting someone's work. For example, if your team is working on a monthly report, you can use version history to track changes and ensure everyone is on the same page. It provides a clear record of how the document has evolved, which can be invaluable for project management and accountability.Managing different versions effectively can make your work much smoother. Here are some practical tips to help you get the most out of this feature: Regularly Name Versions: Make it a habit to name your versions after major changes. This will make it easier to navigate through the history later. Communicate with Your Team: Use the version history as a communication tool to discuss changes and updates with your team. Don't Overdo It: While naming and restoring versions is helpful, try not to clutter your history with too many minor changes. Focus on major milestones.By following these tips, you can keep your version history organized and easy to navigate, reducing the time
