GX password manager - Opera forums
This topic has been deleted. Only users with topic management privileges can see it. last edited by leocg Hello, I received a notice in the Opera Desktop browser (which I love) telling me about Opera GX and asking if I wanted to download it. I thought why not, I would check out later before installing. When I clicked "Download Opera GX", a "save as" window opened and instead of clicking "save", I decided to cancel until I figured out if I wanted it. Now, every time I open the Opera Desktop browser, a Save As window automatically opens with "OperaGXsetup.exe" asking me to click to "save" the file. Even thought I cancel (and once I even downloaded the .exe) it keeps happening. Does anyone know how to stop it from trying to download. In Opera I cleared cookies, cache and hosted app data with no luck. Thanks Much! leocg Moderator Volunteer @qqm last edited by @qqm Did you try cleaning up the downloads list? Opera GX seems to have planted a little seed somewhere that triggers Opera Desktop to keep downloading. I really don't want to resort to installing GX to see if that will stop the downloads because then I have to deal with the uninstall - program, registry settings and any modifications GX may make to the Desktop version that is configured perfectly. Hope there's another idea. Another big reason I don't want to reset Opera or risk messing with my Opera Desktop setup is I have a password manager that is very finicky to set up with Opera to recognize the master encrypted password file, and it's finally also working perfectly. Any other ideas will be very welcome. Is there a way to reach out to the Opera GX development team about this? Open a black small screen (opening opera animation) on the screen, opening for a second, closing, and this process repeating three or four times before giving up. In the task manager it says a opera crash reporter was on in the background too. I came back from school today and now the black screen thing happens, but a opera gx logo appears. is there anything youve done to fix anything similar to this? If you're encountering an issue where Opera GX restarts immediately upon opening on Mac Sonoma, and you cannot access safe mode or configuration settings, here's a simple solution.Solution: Update Opera GX using the Brew package manager for simplicity and reliability.Steps to Resolve:Open the Terminal on your Mac.Install or update Opera GX using the Brew package manager with the following command:brew install --cask opera-gxBrew will handle downloading, upgrading, and replacing the existing app for you. For example, here's what you might see during the process:==> Downloading 100.0%==> Upgrading 1 outdated package:opera-gx 114.0.5282.243 -> 115.0.5322.113==> Upgrading opera-gx==> Downloading 100.0%==> Backing App 'Opera GX.app' up to '/opt/homebrew/Caskroom/opera-gx/114.0.5282==> Removing App '/Applications/Opera GX.app'==> Moving App 'Opera GX.app' to '/Applications/Opera GX.app'==> Purging files for version 114.0.5282.243 of Cask opera-gx🍺 opera-gx was successfully upgraded!Once the upgrade is complete, launch Opera GX. It should now open smoothly without issues.Outcome: This method resolved the restarting issue, and Opera GX worked seamlessly afterward.Note: A similar approach might work on Windows, but Brew isn't available for Windows.Feel free to share if this resolves your issue? 🧉 ThortheOG @darksorcy last edited by Hello there @darksorcy. This topic has been deleted. Only users with topic management privileges can see it. last edited by leocg I have both the Opera and Opera GX browsers.Opera Version: 69.0.3686.77andOpera GX Version: LVL2 (core: 68.0.3618.197)In the Opera browser, when I go to the Extensions Manager, and go to a certain extension, and try to uncheck the "Hide from Toolbar" option, I find that it no longer there, and missing.I opened both browsers, and took screen shots of my Adblock Plus extension, to show you what I am talking about.Opera - Adblock Plus Extention - Details Page: GX - Adblock Plus Extention - Details Page: appears to be a problem with the #extensions-toolbar-menu flag, which disables the icon that lists all of your extensions. I have this flag disabled on both of my Opera, and Opera GX, browsers, and it has worked beautifully, and had never been a problem, until Opera updated itself recently. I disabled that flag, then I would just go to each individual extension, and uncheck the "Hide from Toolbar" option if I wanted them to show on the Extensions Toolbar Menu. I can't do that anymore, because "Hide from Toolbar" option, has been removed from all of the extensions.I also expect that this problem will replicate itself, when Opera GX next updates. When I try to Enable the #extensions-toolbar-menu flag, it no longer works either. It doesn't put the icon, that lists the extensions, back on the Extensions Toolbar Menu. So, I can't access it that way either. In interesting. Conflicts or has been corrupted by previous installations of Opera GX. Changing the installation directory can resolve these issues. How to Change the Installation Directory:1. In some cases, the installer might struggle to download the necessary components due to network restrictions.Steps to Change Your Network Profile:Access Network Settings:Open the Settings app on Windows and go to the “Network & Internet” section.Select Your Active Connection:Choose your current network connection and switch the network profile from “Public” to “Private.”Retry the Installation:After changing the network profile, attempt to install Opera GX again. You May Like: How To Download All Runtime Files In One And SoftwareMethod 5: Use Opera FTP for an Alternative InstallerIf all else fails, you might want to try an alternative method by downloading Opera GX via the Opera FTP server. Navigate to the Opera FTP Server:Access Opera’s FTP page and locate the latest version of Opera GX.2. Select your operating system:Choose the OS version Mac OR Win (for me its windows)3. And require some luck, but nothing is more satisfying than managing that total conquest. What is the best browser to use for gaming?Well, Opera GX is certainly the best browser for gaming. As we just showed you, GX.games has a massive library of games exclusive to the browser. On top of that, the browser comes with features that enhance gaming such as reducing CPU usage.Besides Opera GX, Chrome is also pretty good. It’s not a gaming browser but does have features that gamers would like. For example, it has a built-in password manager for protecting your Runescape account and you can sync passwords to other devices.Firefox is also pretty good thanks to its security features.
