#1 Which is the recommended method of putting into your system and why? #2 Installer of course, because it takes care of many small details you're missing if you make everything manually. The installing process is much faster, and good uninstallers remove every trace, so the system is still clean after uninstall.Myself, I refuse to install unpackaged apps. If it doesn't come with an installer, it also doesn't come with an uninstaller, so I will not use it. #3 I would also recommend the installer. I will use apps in zip format if they are small, "self contained" apps, meaning all the files they need to run are located within its directory structure. OBS has many features which makes its requirements more complex. As @koala noted, the installer takes care of all the details for you. #4 I also only use the installer...I think the ZIP files are made for people with slow connections and a zip downloads faster.. #5 You can run a "self contained" OBS using portable mode. This is a reason for the zip. OBS and OBS-Studio: Portable Mode on Windows Running OBS/OBS-Studio in Portable Mode means all settings (Profiles and Scene Collections) are saved within the OBS main folder.
