Christine Ferreira is the WGAL News 8 Storm Team's Chief Meteorologist, responsible for guiding the station’s weather coverage, and leading News 8’s talented team of meteorologists. An award-winning meteorologist with 20 years of experience, Christine has delivered precise and reliable forecasts on WGAL News 8 Today for over a decade. Catch her forecasts weekdays from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. Christine is a Chester County native and a Millersville University graduate, earning a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. While at MU, Christine served a three-semester internship at WGAL, studying under News 8’s former Chief Meteorologist Joe Calhoun. Christine is a member of the American Meteorological Society and holds the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) Seal of Approval. She won an Associated Press award for “Best Weathercast” in 2015. Prior to her tenure at WGAL 8, she built a diverse resume of meteorological experience. Christine guided viewers through the historic 2005 hurricane season in Victoria, Texas at KAVU-TV, mastered the complexities of coastal and mountain forecasting at KOIN-TV in Portland, Oregon, and prior to coming WGAL, she helped communities prepare for lake effect snow at WEWS-TV in Cleveland, Ohio. Beyond her broadcast achievements, Christine is deeply committed to the Susquehanna Valley, participating in dozens of community events annually, including WGAL 8’s Coats for Kids and Children’s Miracle Network telethons. Her passion for science and education extends beyond television. Over the years, she has educated thousands of students in hundreds of classrooms about weather and weather safety.
