Unable to install iTunes on my Win 8.1 Pro PC:iTunes was originally installed and working until I received a notice to update it to the latest version. When I attempted to install the newer version, I received an error saying, "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."t I proceeded to uninstall the original iTunes version, made sure that all of the latest updates to Window were installed and restarted the PC. Afterwards, I downloaded the latest version on iTunes form the Apple store (64-bit Windows version) and attempted to install it form scratch. I still received the error message, and now I do not have iTunes. If it still won't uninstall you can remove all Apple components that will uninstall then use the steps in Install missing components to install everything apart from Apple Software Update.For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.
