You can test your knowledge of the fretboard in conjunction with any piece you are currently learning. If I stumble too much on finding a note, I’ll include it in a 15 to 20 note region and practice on Fretpro until my response time is zero seconds (Fretpro deflates response times quite a bit). I find Fretpro most useful when used in conjunction with other independent exercises. My current independent exercises are playing scales and chord inversions while naming the individual notes. lucicd Re: Playing above the 5th fret Post by lucicd » Monday 26 May 2008, 10:01 am Hi,take some elementary etudes for violin or flute and play them on the 5th position and above. That will familiarize you with the fretboard very quickly.Cheers!Drazen BillH Re: Playing above the 5th fret Post by BillH » Tuesday 27 May 2008, 18:01 pm How did you learn the first five frets? Probably by playing music written for those notes. Do the same thing for all the other frets. There is no mystery here. . . .
