If you are using a DAW which doesn’t offer a balance control you can trim the level of either channel to achieve the same thing.If you want to move the channels then stereo pan is the right choice. Using stereo pan you can fold down to mono, adjust width, tip a stereo sound so it is still stereo but is off-centre or reverse the stereo image.
