At the start of the month, we discussed a new Microsoft Edge browser feature. Specifically, a built-in screen capture (screenshot) tool that will undoubtedly come in handy. Microsoft has now said the Web Capture tool is now available on Edge.However, there are some limitations to the tool. At launch, Web Capture on Microsoft Edge only provides a basic level of screenshots. In other words, you can take a screenshot and that’s it.Microsoft says more dynamic features like capturing complete webpages, scroll and mark, adding links, and highlights will come in a future update. Web Capture is currently in preview through the Canary and Dev channels.It is unclear if all those advanced features will be available before the tool lands on the release build of Microsoft Edge.How to Use the ToolIn an accompanying blog post, Microsoft describes how to use the Web Capture tool:“To try it out, use the Settings and more menu in the top right corner of the browser and select Web capture. You can also use the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+S) to invoke web capture.When you open web capture, you can use the selection tool to capture just the content you want.Once you are done with the capture, you will see a menu with a couple of options: copy and preview.Click Copy to add the image to your clipboard. It will then be available for you to paste into any application.For more options, select Preview. This will allow you to preview the content you selected and provide options to

Web capture provides features for drawing on it in different colors. Also, you can do a visual search of images in the shot to find their source or related content. The tool doesn't take screenshots immediately after pressing the command, so you have enough time to catch moving content in the right frame and avoid distorted shots. How to take screenshots with Microsoft Edge's Web capture You'll find Web capture among Microsoft Edge's menu options. Quicker ways to access the tool include right-clicking a web page or pining it to the browser's toolbar. Automatically, your screenshots are saved to the Download folder in the file explorer. After the download completes, you receive a prompt to save the file somewhere else. Some websites have ads. If you don't want them in your screenshots, use Immersive reader mode. It's in the address bar as a book icon joined with an audio symbol. Alternatively, press F9. If you still don't see it, press Ctrl+A to highlight the web page, then right-click on it. Select Open selection in Immersive Reader. Use the following steps to take screenshots. The easiest way to capture the moment is to take a snapshot of the screen. Better is to take a capture of the browser window, or even just part of the web page. Even better is to be able to also highlight or annotate on the capture.There are numerous screen capture programs that can be downloaded or bought; however, if you are using Microsoft Windows, there is a simple screen capture program that has been available for your use for the last several versions called the “Snipping Tool.” If you are using Microsoft Windows 10, then the Snipping Tool is being replaced with a new tool called Snip & Sketch.Both, the Snipping Tool and Snip & Sketch provide you with the ability to capture all or part of the screen as well as do markup and more.
