Connection using Skype or other VoIP carrier (a data call): If you do not have a data plan that costs less than $0.25 per megabyte, you will end up paying the same or more for a call on Skype as you would by direct dialing it at roaming rates. If you do not have a data plan, you can end up paying $20 per megabyte, which means your call could cost from $40-$120 per minute on Skype, at an average data usage rate of 2-6 megabytes per minute; You are in a foreign country with a local SIM and receive a call on its assigned telephone number: Usually, “calling party pays” applies, so they will pay the airtime charges, not you;You are on a local SIM in a foreign country and are logged in to Skype: You can place and receive calls through Skype for about $0.02/minute, which means the call is almost free; You are in a foreign country with a dual-number international SIM card from Telestial, EKit, or other provider, and receive a call from the U.S. or any other location: There are two options with dual-number SIM cards. If you are called through your U.S. number, which would be the normal procedure for someone in the U.S. that wanted to reach you, then the call to them would be free. You would pay around $0.19 per minute in Europe on EKit or Telestial for airtime, which is about one-sixth the normal roaming charges for U.S. carriers. If you are

(Image credit: AFP/Getty Images via @daylife) I was just in Paris and received a call from a colleague in California who was totally clueless as to how calls are billed when dialing a cell phone that is outside the U.S. I would not have paid any attention to this issue, except that the audio quality was poor, so I asked whether the caller was on cellular or a landline. It turns out that he dialed my Verizon cell number through Skype which was an application on his handset that offers the option of different call routing to save money on international calls. He thought that if he called me in Europe through the VoIP application it would cost him less money because of the high roaming charges overseas. He was wrong on several counts.I had just cautioned him a week before when he was in China not to make or answer any phone calls (in China) because the rates were about $4.00 per minute. So, he naturally thought that this same high rate would apply when he called me in Europe. His misunderstanding highlights a common misconception and confusion about who pays for what when making or receiving a call on your cell phone when traveling in a foreign country. The issue can become more convoluted and complicated depending on whether you are using a mobile phone with a U.S. carrier SIM card, a roaming SIM like I use from Ekit or Telestial, or if you have installed a SIM fromHUAWEI eKit ปูพรมไอทีเจาะเอสเอ็มอีไทย

You by dialing a U.S. or assigned foreign number to your Skype account. Remember that if your Skype number is call forwarded to your cellular number then you will pay for airtime from your carrier and possibly from Skype as well; You can use WiFi networks and a VoIP carrier to make and receive calls, but you cannot receive calls with your U.S. assigned carrier number, nor receive text messages while on the Wifi network; Turn off roaming data and International roaming on your handset if you do not want to incur data charges unless you have a international data plan such as offered from Verizon and AT&T. Note: if you do subscribe to these monthly plans, check to be certain that the area where you are traveling is included within their coverage. I was recently in the UAE and found that the Verizon 100 MB-for-$25 plan did not include Dubai and the rate was $20 per MB (ouch); Split the functionality of your communications into placed calls, received calls, and data by using two or three different handsets; Certain Blackberry handsets and carriers have Wifi calling that are equivalent to Skype to make free calls; Use a local SIM card rather than your U.S. carrier. The rates can be vastly different; If you use an international roaming SIM as offered by Telestial or EKit, they usually have two phone numbers assigned (one U.S. and one UK). Audio(mobile rig) thanks a lot for theses precisions about live 9! but are you sure? i found today a 64 bits version of live 9 and i was about to test it…then i’ll try to install the ezd 32 bits version! and see what happend with my 32 bits live 9 version!i will let you know! many thanks! Yes, host is audio software. OS is operating system (window 7/8 or other). If your host (Live, Cubase, pro Tools, Sonar, Reaper, et al) is 32-bit, you need to install and make sure the host’s plugin path is set to that 32-bit plugin.Same for using a 64-bit host. Make sure you are using the 64-bit version.Scott Sibley - ToontrackTechnical Advisor victory!!! think you so much guys!!i installed the 32 bits version and it works now!!thanks for the helping hand!! I may have similar problem so I am adding here, if it needs to be a different topic I apologize.I am running Windows 7 64bit SP1, had Pro Tools Express working with my EZDrummer and SD2.0. Will upgrade to EZD 2 when working. I changed DAW when I got a Presonus US1800 for my acoustic kit mic’s to Cubase 5LE and have upgrade to Cubase 7 but not installed it yet. With Cubase 5 LE I lost sound to monitor or hear my Yamaha DTXpress IV ekit. I can hear drums in EZDrummer from PC but can’t trigger the EZDrummer from my Yamaha DTXpress IV. I play through an M Audio Fast Track Pro still. I may have the same issues as above. What would you have me check in my installations of EZDrummer, SD2 to verify version installed? I may have the path as (86), so this may be my problem? Where in Cubase would I verify which bit I am running? Help, About tab maybe? Thanks @pgapro:the version number is displayed in the plugin interface. Check that and report back, both in Standalone and in Cubase.John Rammelt - ToontrackTechnical Advisor John, It was a bit issue of Cubase LE 5 is 32 bit and I was trying to use 64 bit VST Plugins. The Reya, KL East Ekit

#581 Imagine if you went to a Dave Gilmour gig and he was playing a ( Peavey bandits through the ages ) Helix rig in to a Headflush 108. Just exactly the same as the regular rig, no difference in the graph. Huh? If I went to a David Gilmour gig and he was playing a Helix, I wouldn't care. Closer to my musical wheelhouse, I saw Saigon Kick when Bieler was playing Riveras, and he crushed. I saw him last spring, and he was playing a Neural through a power amp and 1960A. He crushed. Are they 1:1? No. Did it matter? No. #582 Well for me its all about enjoyment, I'm also a mediocre at best player who plays in a roomBut I enjoy it and thats all that counts for me That all that actually matters unless you charge people to watch. #583 In the context of this thread my gear seems mediocre Mike It suits my purpose very well. Then it is not mediocre at all #584 I mean, it's a good point. Are you having fun? I jammed with a couple buddies, DI'd with teh FM9, a bass DI, and my Alesis eKit. Didn't piss my wife off, it sounded awesome, and we had a lot of fun. Is that "neutered" or lame? Maybe. My son recorded DI'd to his Mac, with an amp sim, while the piano player and drummer used VSTi's. He loves it. Is it all a replacement for the real thing? Who knows. Who cares, in that moment. Awesome! I don't think making music (alone or with others!) is ever lame. Ever. So much for me trying not to be an absolutist! #585 Huh?
