I think you're referring to the Alt-Tab behaviour that shows open windows and some Edge tabs as if they were windows. You can configure this behaviour at Windows settings ⚙ > System > Multi-tasking > Alt-Tab. 3 additional answers 2021-05-27T14:15:28.783+00:00 I don't quite follow what you mean by every link but whether clicking a link opens a new tab/window or uses the existing window is determined by the site, not the browser. If you look at the underlying HTML on the anchor element there is a target attribute. If it is set to _blank then all browsers will open a new tab/window. If it is not set then the browser should default to replacing the existing window. As an example, if you go here then each link should open in the same window. If it doesn't then look at the underlying HTML. If you have an example site that is demoing this problem then please provide the URL so we can see the behavior. I don't see this issue myself so I wonder if there is a bizarre setting somewhere that is causing it. Note that all browsers should behave the same so if you are having an issue in Edge then try a different browser and report if you see a difference in behavior. This would lead toward a settings issue. 2021-05-30T03:30:35.073+00:00 You need to confirue Multitasking options on windows. All web browsers have individual features and functions. While most of them share that collection, for the sake of uniformity and intuitive design, many of them have additional features that are not immediately obvious. Here are a few things you should know about the Chrome web browser, including how to open links in a new tab in Chrome.Opening Links in a New Tab—What Is the Problem? For those who are not clear on the subject, this article is about opening a link in a new tab on Chrome. When you click a link the usual way, the web page does one of two things. Either the link sends you to the destination (usually being another web page), or you click a link, and it opens a new tab on your Chrome web browser.Who decides if the link loads the page right there or opens it in a new tab? The HTML/code determines how a link opens, whether in the existing tab, a new tab, or even a new window. Why Do People Want “Every” Page Opened on a New Tab?There are many reasons why someone would want every page opened on a new tab. The user may wish to keep the existing tab open and usable as a reference or as a place to return. They may also want to compare webpages for information, such as product reviews, specs, processes/instructions, or definitions. This scenario is especially essential when clicking on an ad. The user won’t like losing their page on a website and having the ad take its place.Regardless of situations, the most common reason to open links in new tabs is that people want to check out many different videos from a list, but they do not want to lose the list or the search when they click on the video links.

You with this reply? Thanks for your feedback. I also noticed this change recently and find it very annoying. I use OWA as a Microsoft Edge app, and before this change I could switch between my mail, calendar, groups, etc. within the app, since it used the same window. Now with this change, every time I open my calendar it opens a new tab in the Edge browser, outside of the Edge app, which defeats the purpose of the OWA app. I've submitted feedback through the help link in OWA since UserVoice is gone, and I don't see a section for Outlook on their new feedback portal. I'd recommend everyone do that as well so MS is aware. I don't know that these posts get back to their product teams. Was this reply helpful? Sorry this didn't help. Great! Thanks for your feedback. Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question. Currently trying to open new tabs from carfax.com site. When I click on a car listing , it usually opens up in new tab. Well all of a sudden it just opens a blank new tab. Have restarted computer, cleared history, cache. Don't know what else to do. Mac mini 2018 or later Posted on Oct 3, 2021 7:57 PM Posted on Oct 4, 2021 2:23 PM @stilltrell, I am having this issue too in Safari 15. This only seems to be happening in Tab Groups, not in the main tab area. Here's what I see happening ... if you go to Safari > Preferences > 'New tabs open with' there are 4 options:Start PageHomepageEmpty PageSame PageI am finding that in Safari 15 Tab Groups (new feature), ALL new tabs open with whatever you have set above. When you click the carfax link (or any link that opens in a new tab), watch the address bar. It looks like it opens the link and then quickly redirects to your new tab setting above. From what I can tell it's a bug and I do not have a solution. The work around is to right click on the link, 'Copy Link', and paste it into the new tab to open. Here is the Reddit Thread on the issue: Similar questions Safari doesn't open links -> opens "start page" Often, not always, when I try to follow a link to new Tab the tab shows the name of the page it is opening, but changes to Starting page before opening. This is new and started after Monterey update. This is super annoying and messes up my work. What is going on? Any ideas? Thanks, 1278 3 All
