2025-04-22Other shortcut: Ctrl + r What does shift f5 (ctrl F5) do: forced reload If an element of the page has its cache expired, this element will be reloaded. This action forces the page to reload regardless of the cached content by retrieving a completely reloaded page. This action retrieves the most recent content of the page visited. This is generally slower than a simple refresh (F5), as the data is not directly retrieved from the cache. My app runs in the browser, which allows me to do the following: 1. If you are in the situation where an element of the page has not loaded, an image for example, the simplest way is to do the combination Shift + F5. If you see the parameter below, remove it. This seems to force a blue screen to appear, which I assume is an app reload. On Mac and Apple: Apple + R or Command + R Other shortcuts: Ctrl + Shift + r or Ctrl + F5. This operation is the same on most modern browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera, Brave, Edge, …). Keyboard shortcut to reload tabs is bound to Alt - Shift - R Reload all tabs in all windows (enabled via options) Option to just reload pinned tabs. There is no difference between the use of these two shortcuts. Shift + F5 or Ctrl F5 does not delete the cache, but ignores it. You will get a window similar to this one, here the Opera browser, where you will choose the items you want to remove from the cache: To clear the cache, you need to open the option to clear the browser’s cache, via the shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Delete (or Ctrl + Shift + Del). Performing a factory reset completely wipes the hard drive. Warning: by deleting some cookies, you will be disconnected from some tools (Gmail, …). I opened the Opera Task Manager and there's about 700Mb of activity there with just Yahoo Mail open in one tab,...Hmm. 700 MB seems quite high for having only Yahoo Mail open (unless you have massive amounts of eMails visible). On my system, a Yahoo Mail logged-in tab process itself runs around only 100 MB, with the whole browser only using a little over 200 MB. For some reason, your Opera installation seems to be running very high on memory usage. You might first try clearing Opera's cache and history elements from within Opera via: Settings > Advanced > Privacy and Security > Clear browsing data > Time range: all time, then check all boxes shown except Passwords and Autofill data > Clear data. That may reduce Opera's memory consumption significantly if there is something massive stored in cache or history. If that approach fails to reduce memory consumption, you could then try "resetting" Opera's profile by opening Opera to locate and copy down the file/folder path of your profile folder (Opera icon > Help > About Opera > Paths: Profile:, then turn off Opera's sync (if it's on). Next, with Opera turned off, use your Windows file explorer to navigate to that profile folder and rename it to something else (eg: rename Opera Stable to XXXOpera Stable). Then once more open Opera (which will automatically recreate the profile folder and files with its original name but default-condition files and settings); then see if Opera's memory consumption is signficantly reduced. Note: the newly-created profile will not have your customized settings, bookmarks, etc., but it will eliminate any corrupted files within the profile as a test case; you can always regain your original profile by turning Opera off, deleting the newly-created profile folder name and re-renaming the XXX... folder back to its original name. If the original profile has been corrupted, one can try copying specific customization files (bookmarks, preferences, etc) one-at-a-time from the original renamed profile folder to the newly-created one to retrieve as much of your original settings, etc as possible (always keeping Opera turned off when copying profile folders/files). Hell, why not just clear my bookmarks too, uninstall Opera, and shut my computer down too. That would make just as much sense! kathyb last edited by @leocg Saving to your favorites does not save or back up your pinboards. Adding them to favorites/sync/backup yields absolutely nothing because they still vanish. Again, they are useless and very unreliable. kathyb @Zuldaris last edited by @zuldaris That's how it goes. I mean the pinboards were great, until you clear your cache. They tried to blame it on installed programs.. lol.. no I used Opera's clean up itself. Many others have lost them and asked the same if backing up. Again, I chose a much more reliable extension that works just as well. Opera should WARN people that this pinboard crap is still in "beta" testing..But, they don't. They just suck you in and then you find out the hard way. ModusOperandi last edited by All of a sudden my pinboards disappeared !!! Completely !!! And no, I couldn't find them back under "favorites", Any explanation ??? any solution ??? Thanks in advance fabestah last edited by fabestah This issue seems to still be around. I checked my pinboards this morning and all of them (20+) were just gone, even though I didn't use any system cleaners nor did I install or change anything vital about my system. As it happens I even had synchronization turned on as long as I've been using Opera and it didn't help whatsoever. I even have a bookmark to my pinboards page and it also leads me to an entirely empty pinboard section. As many other users already stated here in this thread I'm pretty disappointed, I also saw the Opera pinboards as a great alternative to other note apps and extensions but such a substantial bug is completely unacceptable.I'd quite mission-critical information stored in some of my pinboards, lost everything now and I know that it's kind of my fault because I didn't back up that information elsewhere but stuff like this simply shouldn't happen. In addition, you're not even able to back up your
