NewsDespite a rescue deal, dozens of TGI Friday’s restaurants in the UK will close immediatelyPhotograph: Electric Egg / Shutterstock.comYou remember it well. The smell of burgers, the oversized milkshakes, the way they accosted you on your birthday. TGI Friday’s has been a staple of UK high streets for nearly 40 years, but today (October 8) it’s been revealed that many of the chain’s restaurants will be closing. Following several weeks of uncertainty, Breal Capital and Calveton UK have stepped in to rescue TGIs in the UK. However, they aren’t saving all branches. A total of 51 will be saved, while 35 will close. It’s always a shame when beloved brand outposts close, but if you’re a regular person it can be difficult to cut through the jargon and actually understand what’s going on. That’s what we’re here for. We’ve got everything you need to know about TGI Friday’s closures put right here in a simple, easy to understand way. Read on to discover what is actually going on with the diner chain. RECOMMENDED: All the UK high street closures in 2024.Why are TGI Friday’s closing? Basically, the UK branch of the chain’s parent company, Hostmore, had planned to buy out the American TGI brand, but that fell through. This led a lot of investors to believe that the company was unable to remain competitive.Following a period of uncertainty, a rescue deal has been announced from Breal Capital and Calveton UK. However, they won’t take over all TGI sites, and some will close. On top of the top-level struggles, there’s the simple fact that people aren’t going to TGI Friday’s as much as they used to. UK sales at the chain apparently went down by more than 10 percent over the last year, and those sales are only continuing to decline. Following high inflation and the cost-of-living crisis, money is also still stretched for a lot of people, so they’re eating out a lot less. This has put a lot of slightly more upscale chains, such as TGIs and competitors like Wagamamas, under pressure. Short-term ERP solution but the most cost-effective long-term ERP software solution as well. The selection team must have a reasonable understanding of the future costs associated with purchasing the ERP product for the years following ERP implementation. At TGI, we offer one year of free ERP maintenance from the date of software installation. Given that an ERP implementation may take between three and nine months to complete, we believe our customers should not have to pay maintenance on a software product when they are not using the software in a live transaction environment.Perhaps more importantly, TGI provides a No Maintenance Fee Increase Guarantee. We guarantee, in contract writing, that we will never increase the annual maintenance fees charged to each of our customers. This guarantee is designed to provide our customers with a consistent, expected yearly software maintenance expenditure that is free from unanticipated increased fees associated with their software maintenance agreement. We are very proud of the fact that we have never increased our customers’ annual maintenance fees since TGI was founded in 1990.Why is this guarantee important?Referring to questions 5 and 6 above, should there be a difference in the maintenance fees an ERP vendor charges its customer today versus five years ago, and the vendor does not provide price protection on their software maintenance agreement, a manufacturing or distribution organization may be subject to escalated software maintenance fees over time. The end result of these unexpected maintenance fee increases could mean that the organization will be forced to. Why use Enterprise 21 by TGI? From 21 premium options 7-iron loft 28.5° A great sounding and feeling iron that's a solid performer. Players' Distance Irons: Best of the Rest Six of our ten best-performing Players’ Distance Irons of 2024 have hollow body constructions like the Cobra Forged Tec, which is a great indicator of how the market has changed over the last 5 – 8 years. Generally, hollow body irons launch higher with a little less spin, whereas cavity backs like the Srixon ZX5 MK II, and Mizuno JPX923 Forged will launch a fraction lower with additional stopping power. There’s an argument to be made for both construction methods depending on how you deliver the club at impact and the flight you create. While after testing pretty much every model on the market I feel there are slightly better newer options out there than the Cobra Forged Tec, thanks to having been in the market for some time this is a model you may well be able to pick up for less than the competition in 2025. The Forged Tec has a lovely refined head shape, and thanks to being filled with foam inside it sounds and feels good, while 20g of tungsten helps significantly boost forgiveness. Our test data doesn’t show the Forged Tec ripping up trees, but after having tested the model several times against various competition I’m confident this is a very solid performer that won’t let you down.
