Incompatible Products Backup Agent for Open Files All products using this driver are incompatible with the LiveVault software. If this product is installed on a LiveVault computer, starting LiveVault and the incompatible product will cause the computer to crash, and enabling both at sart-up will prevent the computer from starting. Open File Managers A LiveVault Agent cannot run an open file protection product and LiveVault. This includes other LiveVault products and the open file options on other traditional backup products, such as St. Bernard Open File Manager. QuotaAdvisor (versions earlier than 4.0) by W.Quinn Associates Older versions of QuotaAdvisor (earlier than version 4.0) are incompatible with LiveVault. Windows 2003 Remote Storage Service The Windows 2003 Remote Storage service is incompatible with LiveVault. Do not install the Remote Storage service on any LiveVault computer. If an Incompatible Product is Installed If an incompatible product is installed on the computer you want to run LiveVault on, you must disable or remove the incompatible product before installing the LiveVault software. If the LiveVault software is already installed on the computer, do not enable or start the other product while the LiveVault is installed and running. Have Current Windows Emergency Repair Information Protect your computer by ensuring you have current Windows emergency repair information available. When your company subscribes to LiveVault, a companyaccount is created. The following information is specified for the account atthe time it is created: Information Description Company account name Your company supplies this when it subscribes to the service. This is the name of your company, or the name of the organization that is used as the account name for LiveVault. This name is on all your LiveVault bills and other account-related items. Billing contact This is the person to whom all LiveVault bills and billing and administrative issues are sent. For example, this is the person contacted if a question arises regarding renewals. Bills and related items are sent to this contact at the address provided in the contact's user account. By default, this is set to be the person who subscribes your company to the service. As a user for your company account, you can view and update the company's account information, such as the company name and the billing contacts, or set a global password policy for the account. Every company account has users and computers associated with it. The firstuser, who is the default billing contact, is added to theaccount for you when the company account is created. You then add other usersand computers to the account through LiveVault Web Portal. In LiveVault, a company account does not have a single address associated directly with the account. Instead, each user designated in LiveVault Web Portal for the company account has an individual address associated with the user account.As appropriate to the circumstance, LiveVault uses the address of the user who is fulfilling that specific responsibility. For example, all billing information for your company account is routed to your specified primary billing contact usingthat user's contact information. Similarly, restored data that is being delivered on a restore device is shipped by default to the address of the user who requested the data. However, the requester can designate an alternate delivery address. Because addresses are associated with individual users, you can change any user's address as necessary without affecting the addresses of other users. Change your company account's name.

The Media Restore Server (MRS) is used for temporary storage of backup versions. The backup data is replicated from the offsite data storage vaults to the Media Restore Server. The MRS device is then shipped to the customer site. Once the customer is finished restoring their needed data, the Media Restore Server is returned to LiveVault within two (2) weeks. Customers using a Media Restore Server can dramatically reduce the data recovery times by having onsite as well as offsite backup versions available. You can request a media restore (MRS) device from the Restore Wizard. Advantages Using a Media Restore Server has many advantages. MRSs have complete backup versions. Any recovery point existing on an MRS is complete. It can be restored without retrieving any data from the offsite data center. A restore request is either entirely satisfied using data on the MRS, or using data from the offsite vaults, never a combination. MRSs hold two weeks of backup versions. The customer requests a MRS by selecting a specific date. The MRS will contain the data for the selected date, plus backup versions from one week prior to the selected date, and one week subsequent to it.For example, if the customer selects data from January 1, 2013, the MRS will contain backup versions from December 25, 2012 through January 8, 2013. One MRS can hold data from many servers. Multiple media restore requests received from a customer on the same business day will be loaded to the same MRS device. The restore requests must be from different computers within the customer, and not from different restore points on the same computer. LiveVault recommends up to a maximum of 40 backup policies or 20 computers per MRS, given sufficient disk space on the MRS device and bandwidth. MRSs are high availability

Devices. Media Restore Servers run unattended. LiveVault recommends that the MRS have uninterrupted power. A MRS can be powered off, but this action will prevent local restores from occurring. MRSs are location independent. Restoring data from an MRS to servers located in the same local area network is the most efficient. However, the MRS is not required to be in the same local area network. An MRS might be located at a disaster recovery site, or be moved at any time with no need to reconfigure servers or restore policies. Media Restore Considerations When you need to restore a large amount of data, a variety of factors may influence your decision to restore over the Internet or to request a media device. Some factors may include: The urgency of the restore request. Consider how fast you need the data back in combination with the data size and delivery options. Customers using a Media Restore Server can dramatically reduce the data recovery times by having onsite as well as offsite backup versions available. Depending on the amount of data you have to restore, if you request a device before 10 a.m., it may ship as early as the next business day. Restores larger than 100 GB may ship on the second business day (Mon-Fri). Restores larger than 500 GB may ship the second business day. Stability of your network connection. For Internet restores, consider the stability and bandwidth of your network connection. Cost. Requesting a media restore device incurs a charge.
